I sold this house twice in four years. In a hot market-for my buyers and then a few years later, they were my sellers.
This Colonial-style townhouse in Plyers Mill Estates had a deck, parking and a pool.
In June 2005, I was the buyer’s agent. The market was hot, we had just lost a house a few doors down in a bidding war. Three days later, another house on the same street. This model with a kitchen in the back of the house was perfect. The one we missed out on was easily forgotten. These older townhomes are in a little enclave hidden off Georgia Avenue. You can walk to the Metro, shops or work.
In May 2009, I worked as their listing agent. My buyers had gotten married, were expecting a baby and suddenly, a job transfer was also a part of the mix! This could be stressful, but I prepared them, this time as sellers.
They had made some great improvements. But, it was a much slower market. How could we get a buyer?
I told them to unpack some of their wedding gifts.
We wanted to create a simple yet elegant look. Setting the scene by setting the table. Then we hung a few pictures, and voila — an easy and quick staging. The right buyer came in, the baby was born, they packed up the wedding gifts and off they went.
