Potomac, MD

Potomac has a reputation as stuffy and exclusive. But it’s actually well-located, increasingly diverse an quite livable.

Potomac’s public library is friendly. A dollar still goes a long way at the popular monthly used book sales hosted by the Friends of the Library.

Geographically, Potomac is huge in land area — 25 square miles. The means Potomac offers all types of housing — condos, townhomes, and single family houses — at a range of price levels. It’s an established neighborhood where property values have remained strong.

Transportation
Potomac is in the center of things without being downtown. Potomac neighbors Bethesda and Rockville, which have entertainment and restaurants if you don’t feel like going downtown. Many Potomac residents work in Washington, DC and it’s easy to get there.

Depending on where in Potomac you live, it’s minutes to any of these Red Line Metro stations: Friendship Heights, Bethesda or Grosvenor and White Flint. Parking is not a problem. You can even leave your car overnight.

By car, it’s only minutes to cross the river via the Cabin John Bridge, the gateway to Virginia. To Georgetown, you can drive MacArthur Boulevard or Canal Road to Georgetown. Potomac has easy access to Baltimore and points north.

Living
The old-fashioned four corners shopping area of Potomac Village is the focus. It offers bakeries and boutiques, supermarkes and upscale restaurants. Mid-October brings the annual Potomac Day celebration.

Potomac has many quieter spots with trees and sidewalks. Surrounded by parks, Potomac has plenty of nature trails and picnic places, and greats walks along the Potomac River and its towpath. The river attracts kayakers of all abilities.
